Seeds Collection Drive
Seeds Collection Drive
Seeds are the foundation of every forest. Native plant species that once grew freely across Gujarat are disappearing as their seeds go uncollected and their habitats shrink. GreenLeaf's Seeds Collection Drive harnesses community participation to gather, preserve, and propagate native seeds before they are lost.
Volunteers collect seeds from forests, farms, and roadsides, which are then cleaned, dried, catalogued, and stored in our community seed banks — ready to be converted into seed balls or direct plantations at restoration sites.
The Seed Journey
From forest floor to seed bank to forest again — a complete cycle of regeneration.
Community Collection
Volunteers and tribal communities collect seeds from native trees, medicinal plants, and grasses during seasonal fruiting periods.
Cleaning & Drying
Seeds are carefully cleaned of pulp and debris, then sun-dried to optimal moisture levels to ensure long-term viability.
Cataloguing & Storage
Each seed variety is labelled, recorded, and stored in our community seed banks under controlled conditions for seasonal distribution.
Distribution & Planting
Seeds are distributed to nurseries, schools, and farmers, or converted into seed balls for aerial and ground-level forest restoration.
